Sharky's of Liverpool hosted some great music on Sunday, June 25. Sharky's continues to bring great music to CNY, and the month of June is no exception. Headlining for the night was 4-time GRAMMY Award winner Snarky Puppy.
Opening the show was Irv Lyons Jr and The Light, which was joined by trumpet player Justin Stanton of Snarky Puppy. It was one of Irv Lyon's original songs, I Need Your Love. Irv Lyons Jr. is a talented local Syracuse vocalist, guitarist, and composer who has a distinctive sound drawing from Latin influenced jazz, as well as Country and Blues while still embracing his Native American Roots.
Snarky Puppy came on stage, opening with Trinity, followed by Coney Bear, and Broken Arrow. Described by some as a combination of jazz, fuson and rock, others describe them as "of their own". A unique sound and presentation with occasional magic thrown at you when you least expect it, and maybe even a surprise to themselves. Snarky ended the night with an encore performance of Lingus. If you missed this show, you missed yet another musically talented group of top musicians doing their thing. Snarky heads to Europe in July. Enjoy the trip, Snarky Pups.
