Thursday, May 25, 2023, Seneca Casino in Niagara Falls NY welcomed legendary recording artist Debbie Gibson. She appeared at the "Bears Den" for night one of two shows. And the start of her "The Body Remembers Encore Tour. The Bears Den is a very beautiful venue, with an intimate setting, and seats about 400. With that being said there isn't a bad seat in the house and can see the artist no matter where you sit.
With the show starting right at 8 pm sharp, the 52-year-old singer, songwriter, producer, and Broadway talent made her way to the stage tucked in behind her backup dancers. Buddy Casimano has been with Debbie from the very start. And Eddie Bennett who she met on the production of Chicago. She knew the moment she met him she had to have him with her band, she told us at the show. She emerged from behind the two of them in a "One Piece" short suit and at 52 she's got it and flaunts it.
She began with a lot of her classic hits, some you only knew if you had the albums and truly listened to the whole thing. So it was nice to give that music a minute in the spotlight and she did it flawlessly. She then took a moment to change backstage (into pajamas) as did her backup singers and dancers. The "sleepover vibe" and still getting the hits of a long time ago done. All while many of them climbed onto a mattress to keep the theme going. This led to a new direction for her album The Body Remembers, which was released two years ago.
Now making that the highlight of the show. She also changed outfits again, in which she left us in the hands of her backup dancers. Before she exited the stage she told us how she professed her admiration & love and all her loyalty to them. They were a little verklempt but began engaging with the crowd. They did nearly run out of things to say, Debbie began talking from backstage being she still had her microphone. She says oh boy the first night of the tour and have a wardrobe malfunction. Buddy was like, it was a god talking to me. Surprised to hear her from the back! She said give me 30 seconds more and there she appeared in a jump suit-like outfit for the next part of the show and dance they put together.
The final outfit change for "Ms.Gibson" was into distressed jeans and a white t-shirt pulled back tight. Debbie is at home when she is on stage and you can feel that vibe from her. Just had a down-home feel as if you were watching her perform in her living room. She loves to talk and tell stories and keeps the crowd involved. Her entertainment level is like no other, talk about knowing how to dance and work that stage "Wow" girl. Solid 2 hrs of non-stop action from her and her bandmates. Never know what she might do next, she had a set list but left you wondering because she didn't have any set order. She even said her show will be different every night. Getting the chance to see her was one I'm glad I didn't miss, and you should see her if you can as well. (Wrote By: J. Johnston) Click to see the full image gallery HERE
